The 115 yr. old, 54 ft. obelisk (dedicated in 1905) was removed by the city piece by piece until it was gone. The location of the monument parts are currently unknown. Arrests of peaceful protestors at Linn Park were made as the city imposed a 7pm curfew. The monument was defaced and nearly toppled.

Once it was removed, it was taken to an undisclosed location. The attorney general, Steve Marshall, vowed to file a new civil complaint against the city if the monument was removed.
